The story of Esther takes us into the palace of King Ahasuerus, where a dramatic turn of events changes everything for God’s people. Esther 6:7 is part of a crucial moment when Haman, who secretly hates Esther’s cousin Mordecai, is asked by the king how to honor someone special. Thinking the king means him, Haman describes an extravagant celebration. But the king surprises Haman by telling him to honor Mordecai—the very man Haman wanted to destroy. This twist shows us that God can reverse situations when we least expect it, and His plans always have the final say.
God’s sovereignty shines clearly in this passage. Even when things seem hopeless or unfair, God is working behind the scenes. Mordecai had spent years serving faithfully, and for a long time, it looked like his good deeds would go unnoticed. But God’s timing is perfect. Just when things seemed darkest, God used an ordinary event—a sleepless night for the king—to bring about a complete turnaround. As a teen, you might sometimes feel invisible or like your efforts don’t matter. Maybe you help a friend, work hard in school, or try to live out your faith, but it seems like nobody notices. Mordecai probably felt the same way—he did the right thing, but for a while, it looked like it didn’t make any difference. Esther 6:7 reminds you that God sees everything, and He values your integrity and kindness. Even when the world overlooks you, God delights in honoring those who honor Him.
Trusting God’s timing isn’t always easy, especially when life feels unfair or you’re facing challenges. You might wish things would change right away or that you’d get recognized for your good choices. But just like Mordecai, sometimes you have to wait. Use this time to keep doing what’s right, knowing that God’s plan is bigger than what you can see. He’s never late, and He knows exactly when and how to bring good out of hard circumstances.
When you face adversity, remember that God can turn things around in ways you never expected. Maybe someone says something hurtful, spreads rumors, or tries to make you feel small. Instead of giving in to discouragement, look to God for your worth and encouragement. He can use even the toughest situations to shape your character and reveal His purpose. Just like Mordecai, your faithfulness can lead to blessings you didn’t see coming.
