What is salvation?
Scripture: Romans 6:23; John 3:16
Salvation is God’s loving act of rescuing humanity from sin and spiritual death and restoring us to a right relationship with Him. Through salvation, God offers forgiveness, new life, and eternal hope through Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that while sin leads to death, God freely gives eternal life to those who believe in His Son. Salvation is not merely a future promise but the beginning of a transformed life with God.
Why do we need salvation?
Scripture: Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:2
We need salvation because every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s holiness. Sin creates separation between humanity and God, breaking the relationship He originally intended. Without salvation, this separation leads to spiritual death. Scripture makes it clear that no one is exempt from this condition, which is why salvation is necessary for reconciliation with God.
Who provides salvation?
Scripture: Acts 4:12; John 14:6
Salvation is provided by God alone through Jesus Christ. No other person, belief system, or effort can restore our relationship with God. Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again, making Him the only way to salvation. The Bible clearly states that salvation is found in no one else.
Is salvation something we earn?
Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5
Salvation cannot be earned through good deeds, religious practices, or moral behavior. It is a gift given by God’s grace. Scripture teaches that salvation is received through faith so that no one can boast in their own efforts. Good works are a response to salvation, not the cause of it.
How can someone receive salvation?
Scripture: Romans 10:9–10; Acts 16:31
A person receives salvation by turning away from sin and placing their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This involves believing in His death and resurrection and openly confessing Him as Lord. Salvation is a personal decision to trust Jesus and follow Him.
What does repentance mean?
Scripture: Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 7:10
Repentance means more than feeling sorry for sin; it is a sincere turning away from sin and a turning toward God. It involves a change of heart and direction, choosing obedience over rebellion. True repentance leads to forgiveness and spiritual renewal.
What happens when someone is saved?
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17; Revelation 20:15
When a person is saved, their sins are forgiven, they are made new in Christ, and they become part of God’s family. Scripture teaches that believers are transformed and given new life, and their names are written in the Book of Life, securing their eternal future with God.
Does salvation change how we live?
Scripture: James 2:17; Galatians 2:20
Yes, salvation leads to a transformed life. Those who are saved begin to live differently as Christ lives within them. While good works do not save us, they naturally flow from a genuine faith. A saved life is marked by growth, obedience, and a desire to honor God.
Is salvation only about heaven?
Scripture: John 10:10; Romans 5:1
Salvation includes the promise of eternal life in heaven, but it also impacts life here and now. Through salvation, believers experience peace with God, freedom from sin’s power, and a new sense of purpose. God offers abundant life both now and forever.
Why is salvation so important?
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:12
Salvation is important because every person will one day stand before Christ to give an account of their life. Scripture teaches that eternal destiny is determined at this judgment. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will spend eternity with God, making salvation the most important decision anyone can make.
